Every year Pantone, a globally known corporation that specialises in colour matching, releases a 'Colour of the Year'.
This year, they decided to include 2 colours; being Rose Quartz and Serenity.
They describe this pairing as a softer take on colour for the year of 2016, blending two shades for the first time.
The Executive Director for Pantone, Liatrice Eiseman describes it as an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.
I personally love these colours as they are beautiful on the eye; but I feel that as a whole perhaps pastel shades of any kind have been seriously overused, especially in fashion around the Spring/Summer months.
Miranda Priestley - I Feel Ya. |
When I was browsing in Sephora last week in New York (that sounds so causal, I love it) I spotted this collaboration...
Although seriously cool - I just don't know how I feel about this. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of makeup and this is such a creative idea - but part of me feels that maybe Pantone should have saved this move for a year when their colours are more wearable.
It might just be me, but I really don't think many people if any at all would suit either a pale pink or powdery blue lipstick!?
Out of this whole palette I would probably only use around 5 colours! |
Again, beautiful packaging! |
But for lipstick this is definitely a mahoosive no from me! |
What do you think? Would you wear these products or do you also feel the colours are a little too crazy? Either that or I'm just seriously boring when it comes to what colours of eyeshadows I use!
Let me know in the comments!
