Like many luxury brands; Balmain has chosen to diversify into different markets, their latest move being within Childrenswear.
The fresh collection consists of 55 styles for children aged between 6 and 14 years old.
Everyone knows that Balmain is pretty pricey - and their new line makes no exception. The starting price begins at £145 for a standard t-shirt right up to an unbelievable £4,175 for a beautiful embroidered dress. However, the attire screams Balmain which tells me that wealthy parents who are a fan of the French fashion house will willingly buy into it.
My immediate reaction was "Who in their right mind would pay such an extortionate amount of money on clothing, when their child is likely to spill food down it!?" It seems though that Creative Director Olivier Rousteing does have a customer base, saying "These are the same looks that, over the years, moms and dads have repeatedly pleaded with me to produce for their kids".
I've been aware of Rousteing creating mini designer outfits, but only for close friends who have children, such as for Kim Kardashian's daughter North West who is often seen rocking structured Balmain jackets paired with gorgeous little tutu's.
