Balmain Childrenswear Line

Like many luxury brands; Balmain has chosen to diversify into different markets, their latest move being within Childrenswear.

The fresh collection consists of 55 styles for children aged between 6 and 14 years old.

Everyone knows that Balmain is pretty pricey - and their new line makes no exception. The starting price begins at £145 for a standard t-shirt right up to an unbelievable £4,175 for a beautiful embroidered dress. However, the attire screams Balmain which tells me that wealthy parents who are a fan of the French fashion house will willingly buy into it.

My immediate reaction was "Who in their right mind would pay such an extortionate amount of money on clothing, when their child is likely to spill food down it!?" It seems though that Creative Director Olivier Rousteing does have a customer base, saying "These are the same looks that, over the years, moms and dads have repeatedly pleaded with me to produce for their kids".

I've been aware of Rousteing creating mini designer outfits, but only for close friends who have children, such as for Kim Kardashian's daughter North West who is often seen rocking structured Balmain jackets paired with gorgeous little tutu's.

What do you think of this collection? Pointless or exciting?

The Little Black Dress

The LBD. If you've never heard that abbreviation before then you really must be living under a rock.

Its an essential - a piece suitable for pretty much anything, pretty much anywhere.

Of course, its silhouette has changed over time, but it still remains undeniably fashionable.

I am personally a huge fan of the LBD - I always resort to it if unsure on what to wear for an occasion.

I thought I would share with you what I feel are the most iconic moments in history for such a classic piece!

1928 - Actress Joan Bennett
1948 (Post War) - Christian Dior
1949 - Christian Dior
1956 - Marilyn Monroe
1959 - Mademoiselle Chanel
1961 - Audrey Hepburn wearing Givenchy for 'Breakfast At Tiffany's'
1965 - Sophia Loren
1977 - Blondie (Debbie Harry)
1985 - Karl Lagerfeld Creation For Chanel
1994 - Naomi Campbell for Chanel

Denim: Fashion's Frontier Exhibition At FIT

"On any given day, nearly half the world's population is in jeans" report anthropologists Daniel Miller and Sophie Woodward.

This exhibition took a wide view, shedding light on the evolution of this durable cotton fabric.
It began with an introductory section and then proceeded chronologically with objects from the nineteenth century to the present. It juxtaposed examples of workwear with high fashion, street style, with commercial garments and menswear with womenswear, in order to present a multifaceted history of denim clothing that goes beyond blue jeans.

Here are some of the pictures I managed to take - I didn't find this exhibition anywhere near as inspiring or captivating as Fairy Tale Fashion, but interesting all the same.

Karl's Doll House | Chanel Haute Couture '16

Just an hour ago, Karl Lagerfeld along with his team at Chanel unleashed their Chanel Haute Couture Collection for 2016.

I can't remember a time when I haven't loved Chanel's settings for their shows, two past favourites of mine being the Supermarket for Fall/Winter Ready To Wear 14/15 and the Airport for Spring Ready To Wear 2016.

The Japanese theme for this show is obvious, not just through the wooden house which mimics many to exist in Japan, but also the makeup and hair looks portrayed on the models. This whole show was very Mulan which I love!

Capes are an obvious standard for this collection - I feel that they added to the outfits underneath beautifully.

One person who was very pleased with the show was Karl's muse - Cara Delevingne.

Is their anything the people at CHANEL can't do!?
I can't wait to see more pictures!

Spectrum Collections: First Impression

I am a HUGE sucker for buying things I don't exactly need - but when I saw that Spectrum Collections had replenished all of their stock online, I simply couldn't resist.

They specialise in creating vibrant makeup brushes, tools and accessories. All of their products are hand finished, vegan and cruelty free.

I decided to go for their Best Selling 4 Piece Contour Face Set.

I've been absolutely astounded by the quality of what I've received. Each brush seems extremely durable - there's nothing worse than your makeup brush shedding hairs all over your face, I haven't had this happen yet (touch wood)!

My set arrived in a plastic pink case which I'll definitely be keeping for future use!
I also really liked that a member of staff had taken the time to write 'Dear Lana' on a leaflet - a small gesture but it worked wonders in making me feel valued as a customer!

Thankyou Spectrum Collections, I'll definitely be purchasing from you again!

New York Haul: Beauty/Skincare

Welcome back!

When I was in New York, its safe to say that the one store which bled me dry the most was Sephora - mainly due to the fact that the makeup giant doesn't exist in the UK.

Because of this, I saw fit to buy whatever I wanted - If any of you have ever visited a Sephora before then you'll agree when I say its like a very expensive sweet shop.

One of the first purchases I made was this Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Highlighter. I've had my eye on it for a while ever since purchasing it for a friend as a gift. A previous project I completed at University had me focusing heavily on different highlighters so I've definitely become a bit of a hoarder as a result.

This shot really doesn't do the quality of the powder much justice.
It also comes with its own little applicator which is cute - I probably won't
use this as I have a range of trusty brushes that work perfectly.

If you're like me and don't like going anywhere without wearing makeup, then you have to go out and buy this product! I've always been self conscious about my skin ever since I was a young teen although its now almost always on its best behaviour. Sometimes I can't be bothered to do the whole foundation routine but this tinted moisturiser does the trick! It offers a bit of coverage which makes all the difference - I love you Origins!

I was sooooo excited about this - before going to New York I saw that ABH had released her new Brow Definer and I had my heart set on it immediately! I already have the Dipbrow Pomade which is amazing but this product is good for quick brow fixes.

I also picked up the Brow Powder Duo, again excellent for filling in and shaping brows very quickly!

I couldn't not pick up a Contour Palette - for $40 it was an absolute bargain! I went for the powder version as my skin is combination but more on the oily side, in the shade 'Light to Medium'.

Like in most stores - Sephora adopts the tactic of placing multiple products around their till areas in a bid to entice customers to spend even more money - it certainly worked on me.

The same day that I got my hair blowed out and styled at DryBar I spotted this mini set - I already have the large yellow hair brush which I love but I thought this mini one would be good for my mam who has recently had a slight fringe cut into her hair. The two products included in the set were used on my hair and created a beautiful result, I just couldn't say no!

And then there was the array of face masks on offer. I loved that their was a member of staff to advise customers on which masks to buy depending on their skin type!

I hope you liked this mini haul post!
