Two major events took place in the celebrity social calendar recently.
The Brit Awards and The Oscars.
On the nights the events took place, I completed my yearly ritual of scouring the red carpet looks that appeared. One trend that popped up at both, were looks with a fairytale feel - more specifically ones that resembled Princess Belle from Disney's Beauty And The Beast.
At The Brits, Cheryl opted for a Zuhair Murad creation. Of course, this look isn't identical to the Disney character but the similarities are definitely there. The shade of yellow, fullness of the skirt and choice of 'half up half down' hair ensemble all contribute massively.
Her look divided opinions on the night, some people on Twitter branding her a "canary", but I personally think she pulls it off, her choice reflecting her sunshine smile and fun loving personality.
For The Oscars, Swedish actress and dancer Alicia Vikander pulled a more classic look out of the bag. Her strapless Louis Vuitton gown has unfathomable likenesses to the one seen in the movie - predominantly through the length and finish at the bottom. Her makeup was minimal but effective, reflecting her natural beauty. Like Cheryl, she also opted for a 'half up half down' hair look.
It seems that Alicia's dress was loved so much - the following day ITV's This Morning remade it in under two hours, being worn here by reality television star Ferne McCann.
Some people may think of this mini trend as childish and slightly cringe, but I personally love it!
Disney princesses have a massive influence on so many peoples childhoods, so why shouldn't it filter through into adulthood?
It reminds me of a recent exhibition I viewed in New York called Fairy Tale Fashion.
