Film Review: Brooklyn

Welcome back!

On Friday evening, me and my family all sat together and watched the 2015 movie 'Brooklyn'.
It follows a young Irish girl who leaves home to work in 1950's Brooklyn, moving away from everything she knows. Whilst there, she quickly falls in love with a local, making it even more difficult for her to come home when her past catches up with her (I don't want to ruin it by saying too much!) She effectively has to decide between two lives, the same old same old one she has in Ireland or the new and exciting one she has in Brooklyn.

One thing that really told me this film was good, was the fact that my Dad actually enjoyed it. He's an extremely tough critic, if something isn't half decent there's a 100% chance he'll fall asleep.

It really struck a chord with me, as in August I will be moving to New York and have funnily enough been looking at accommodation in Brooklyn. If you're in to sad movies then this is definitely one for you, but even if you're not, I still couldn't recommend it enough. It's made me wish that I lived in the 1950's in the big city - it looks so so so beautiful (especially the Central Park scenes).

If I've got you intrigued - you can watch the trailer here.
If you watch it, please let me know what you thought - I feel its one of those movies that I'll watch over and over again.
