Magazine Ad's | Snapchat Wit

I think everyone will agree when I say that the fragrance/overall scent market is ridiculously saturated. I personally find it a little overwhelming, resulting in me constantly using the same fragrances again and again. (My personal favourites are Prada Milano Iris and Chanel Cristalle Eau Verte for anyone that is interested).

Who can actually be bothered to search for a new signature scent when there are literally thousands released every single year!?

A recent task we completed at university pretty much involved taking the mick out of current fragrance advertisements using SnapChat. Now, this may seem pointless but in actuality it made me realise that most ads have no substance to them what so ever which is really sad and repetitive.

Enjoy!

Guess Who Is Moving To The Big City!?

Welcome back!

If you follow me on social media, then I'm sure you'll know that something MAJOR is happening in my life towards the end of this year.

At the end of August, I'll be moving to New York City to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology (*screams with excitement*)

Although very very scary, I couldn't be happier. This is my dream.

Not only will I be studying what I love, I'll be doing so in the most exciting city in the world.
I'll experience so many incredible things and have a chance to really get to know some new people!

I know you guys will have guessed already, but OF COURSE i'll be posting enough photos and blog posts to make your head spin (put the end of August in your diaries if you want to have a sneaky insight into my life across the pond).

Rihanna | Manolo Blahnik Collaboration

If you know of singer/song-writer Rihanna, then you'll know that she is a woman who enjoys testing boundaries.

Well, it now seems she has out done herself, her newest collaboration with celebrated Spanish designer Manolo Blahnik being revealed.

Rihanna has stated that these 9 to 5 thigh high denim
boot-slash-pants are her favourite piece from the
collection.
The collection consists of 4 shoe designs, being called 'Denim Dessert'. I feel there's enough denim in the above pair alone to justify said title!

It seems that although loving the boots dearly, Rihanna has also jokingly expressed concern in a recent interview with British Vogue...

"Depends on what kind of date you are trying to have," she laughed. "Guuurrrl! Those boots are dangerous! If you're trying to get back home to your bed, don't wear them boots! You will get kidnapped in those boots, those boots are trouble."

Denim Heaven...
This collection is said to be exclusive, with only 45 pairs of the 9 to 5 boots being made due to the high production costs (nice little Dolly Parton reference in the name there RiRi).

If her recent collaboration with Puma is anything to go by, then these denim babies will have no trouble selling out quick sharp!

Can We Really Trust Big-Time Bloggers?

Welcome back!

In a recent seminar, we were discussing the relation between current macro/global trends against specific words. A pairing I focused on was the trend of Bloggers/Youtubers becoming increasingly more popular and the word 'Trust'.

I'll admit it, watching/reading the views of people such as Zoe Sugg and Tanya Burr is a definite guilty pleasure of mine, but I've learned to take certain opinions of theirs with a pinch of salt.

These people have evolved, becoming their own brand. Due to their success and daily views, they are approached by numerous companies to promote their products - being provided with a sum of money in return for giving viewers supposedly 'honest' opinions.

Now, although the majority of them make it very clear that they have been sponsored by whichever company they're discussing, some tend to slip up. I notice this mostly on Instagram, when people forget to put the hashtag 'ad' at the end of their captions. This, as I'm sure most of you will agree, comes across as very misleading.

Is she being sponsored or just very complimentary about the brand? Who knows!
As a result, I always feel inclined to look at product reviews online from people like you and me, as I feel that there is no reason to sugarcoat or lie about how you really feel regarding a product.

What do you guys think? Do you trust Bloggers and Youtubers opinions when they're discussing sponsored brands?

Let me know in the comments!

Where's Karl?

Who didn't love 'Where's Wally' as a kid?
(If you didn't take at least some enjoyment out of searching for the stripy character, you must be crazy!)

Now I have an excuse to continue one of my favourite past-times through one of my favourite New York purchases from my trip in January.

'Where's Karl' is a book created by Stacey Caldwell, Ajiri A. Aki and Michelle Baron.
The concept is exactly the same, but instead of finding Wally you're searching for the iconic fashion legend that is Karl Lagerfeld.

He's always on the go making him a perfect focus for a concept like this.

What I love the most about this interactive book is the illustrations, all beautifully detailed making other familiar faces very recognisable.
(Whilst searching I've come across other incredible fashion figures such as Grace Coddington, Carine Roitfeld, Anna Wintour, Bill Cunningham and of course Karl's perfect pet cat Choupette.)

The Chanel logo seems to have sprouted legs in this book - perfect symbolism for Karl travelling around the world!
I couldn't recommend this book enough to anyone who has a love for fashion but also likes to release their inner child every once in a while - It's definitely going to become a keepsake of mine.

Trend Alert: Princess Belle

Two major events took place in the celebrity social calendar recently.
The Brit Awards and The Oscars.

On the nights the events took place, I completed my yearly ritual of scouring the red carpet looks that appeared. One trend that popped up at both, were looks with a fairytale feel - more specifically ones that resembled Princess Belle from Disney's Beauty And The Beast.

At The Brits, Cheryl opted for a Zuhair Murad creation. Of course, this look isn't identical to the Disney character but the similarities are definitely there. The shade of yellow, fullness of the skirt and choice of 'half up half down' hair ensemble all contribute massively.

Her look divided opinions on the night, some people on Twitter branding her a "canary", but I personally think she pulls it off, her choice reflecting her sunshine smile and fun loving personality.

For The Oscars, Swedish actress and dancer Alicia Vikander pulled a more classic look out of the bag. Her strapless Louis Vuitton gown has unfathomable likenesses to the one seen in the movie - predominantly through the length and finish at the bottom. Her makeup was minimal but effective, reflecting her natural beauty. Like Cheryl, she also opted for a 'half up half down' hair look.

It seems that Alicia's dress was loved so much - the following day ITV's This Morning remade it in under two hours, being worn here by reality television star Ferne McCann.

Some people may think of this mini trend as childish and slightly cringe, but I personally love it!
Disney princesses have a massive influence on so many peoples childhoods, so why shouldn't it filter through into adulthood?
It reminds me of a recent exhibition I viewed in New York called Fairy Tale Fashion.

Kanye West | Yeezy Season 3

When you all look at this pair of shoes:

I bet that at least 70% of you will know the brand, the name and the creator.

Adidas Yeezy's by Kanye West.

His third collection showcase with the well-known sports brand resulted in Madison Square Garden being sold out in a matter of minutes.

This is without a doubt Mr West's most colourful collection yet, moving away from his signature neutral colour palette - instead going for oranges, blues and reds.

Promotion at its finest - the entire Kardashian/Jenner clan came and supported Kanye at the event - dressed in an exclusive collaboration between himself and Balmain. Olivier Rousteing, Creative Director for the fashion house is believed to have rustled these looks up within a very small amount of time - hats off to him!

However, it seems that Kanye's side of things got pretty much all of the attention, with the promotion of Adidas coming across as almost non-existent.

While the show was in full swing, Kanye simultaneously blasted his new album 'The Life of Pablo' which he exclaimed was only to be found on his new music app 'Tidal'. Not long after, Tidal became the most downloaded app globally.

Although it may not compensate completely - Kanye did picture his wife Kim wearing Adidas X Yeezy, the branding being crystal clear.

What did you think of Yeezy Season 3? Leave your comments below.
